Words and Writing – A Frame for the New Year

Happy New Year!

Last week there were a bunch of posts floating around about choosing your word to focus on for the new year.  So I set out to decide what my word would be. I read a couple of blog posts and forum posts on the topic, and one of them included a list of words to consider. I figured this was going to be easy since I already knew what I wanted to accomplish this year, and how I wanted to change up my business based on what I’d learned from a personality types course I’d taken.

It wasn’t.

I read through the list three or four times fully expecting a word to jump out at me.

I meditated and asked my Angels and Guides for a word to focus on.

Still nothing.

action order and joy for 2014So tonight – yes, New Year’s Night – I finally put all the words on separate pieces of paper, stuck them in a bag, shook it up, and picked three. I got eight!

What happened was that as I shook the bag, a bunch of the little pieces of paper got stuck together. So when I thought I was picking one, there were really two or three stuck together. Funny enough once I looked at all of them, it pretty much makes sense.

My three main words are Action, Order, and Joy

This is to be a year of massive action. I have big plans, and huge goals. So I know I need to get better at taking action especially in terms of business. But the sub-words attached to action really are more personal and spiritual than business based. Self-love, Confidence, and Courage – all three areas in my life where I know I do need to take more action and pay more attention.

When it comes to “order”, the first thing I thought of was “create order out of chaos”.  I certainly do need to create some order where my papers, books, and other “stuff” is concerned. But the word attached to order was “Heal” and I think it’s going to take a little reflection on what that means.

Joy is an easy one – See more joy in the world. And its partner is Beauty. As in look for the beauty and joy in everything.

Create more joy and beauty in the world. That’s my goal. To write more, create more, and have the courage to put myself out there more. I have a feeling this eight-word combination is going to be fuel for a lot of blog posts over the coming year. At the very least I know now why it was so hard to narrow it down to just one.

Do you choose a word to focus on throughout the year? What’s yours?
